Donald Trump claims that it's going to be America First... But does the country also scores first regarding human rights standards? Some months after the inauguration of the new president, it is crucial to explore current developments in the US regarding human rights issues.
Therefore, Amnesty International Student Group Groningen invited three speakers: Dr. Marietta Messmer, Associate Professor of American Studies discusses current changes in the country's immigration policy. Afterwards, Dr. J. Olthof, instructor for American Studies, will elaborate on the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Last, but not least, Frank Slijper from PAX gives an insight into the country's involvement in global arms trade. In the end, there will of course be room for questions and discussion.
The schedule for the evening:
20:10: Lecture by Dr. Marietta Messmer
20:30: Lecture by Dr. J. Olthof
21:05: Lecture by Frank Slijper
21:25: Debate and question round
We are looking forward to welcoming you for this inspiring evening at Brouwerij Martinus!
